Atsushi TERAIKE

Teraike Atsushi was born in Kyoto where he still works today. His father was the Kyoto-based potter Teraike Toushu. In 1965 and 1970 Atsushi’s work was selected for the Kyo-ten. He graduated from Kanazawa College of Art’s sculpture department in 1973 and from that year on he held solo exhibitions regularly in Kyoto, Tokyo and Osaka. In 1984 he was selected for the Kyoto Sculpture Exhibition, where he won the Encouragement Award. He has also taken part in several group exhibitions, including the Kyoto Open Air Sculpture Exhibition and the exhibition of Kyoto Sculptors Association. His work is held in a number of public collections, including the Kyoto Prefectural Seminar House and Yamaguchi University. It is also found at several temples, including the Rinzai School temple Kokutai-ji in Toyama Prefecture, and several temples in Kyoto, including Yogen-in, Nyoi-ji and Jusen-in.
