
TAMAGAWA Tatsushi
Tamagawa Tatsushi is the son of Living National Treasure Tamagawa Norio (1942–). Tatsushi graduated from the Tsubame Technical High School in Niigata Prefecture in 1988 and in the same year started working for the family’s Gyokusendo workshop, the renowned company that has specialized in hammered copperware (tsuiki) since 1816. In 2002, Tamagawa Tatsushi was awarded the title of Dento Kogei Shi (Traditional Craftsman), and in 2007 he was appointed factory manager. That year he also became a regular member of the Japan Crafts Association. He has won numerous awards, including at the 59th and 61st Nihon Dento Kogeiten (Japan Traditional Art Crafts Exhibition) – in 2012 and 2014 respectively – as well as the Sekido Musem Prize at the 43rd Dento Kogei Nihon Kinkoten (Traditional Crafts Japanese Metalwork Exhibition) in 2014.
