ISHITAKA Yasuo

Ishitaka Yasuo was born in Niigata Prefecture. A master of metalwork, he was first selected for the Traditional Crafts Musashino Exhibition in 1983, followed by regular participation in the Nihon Dento Kogeiten (Japan Traditional Art Crafts Exhibition) from 1984, ultimately achieving selection 14 times. He also exhibited widely in regional competitions, including the Niigata Prefecture Crafts Exhibition, receiving six awards, and the Niigata Prefecture Fine Arts Exhibition. Recognized for his technical skills and engagement with craft heritage, Ishitaka was certified as a Traditional Craftsman in the Traditional Industrial Art Form category by the Minister of International Trade and Industry in 1997. He won the Niigata Nippo Art Promotion Award in 2000, and the East Japan Branch Award at the Japan Traditional Crafts New Works Exhibition in 2006.
